Clare Meade grew up foraging and has wonderful memories of her grandmother, wild plum thickets and plum preserves. She began using various basketry techniques to create using foraged materials, rather than purchased and pre-processed fibers. Clare found a deep satisfaction in harvesting plants as they follow the seasons, gathering each at the right time for a specific use – and what a surprise when she found out that invasive plants such as kudzu and bindweed are valued weavers!
