Vaccinium stamineum
deerberry (3 gallon)
We're excited to be able to offer deerberry! Deerberry, also known as highbush huckleberry, is a Vaccinium and grows well along Upland Walk and South Tuckahoe Trail at Adkins Arboretum. Deerberry grows 3 to 6 feet tall and wide. It has nodding open bell shaped white flowers in late spring. Plant in full sun to part shade in medium, well-drained soils. Fruits can be a little sour for human taste, but the birds and deer enjoy them!
