Tradescantia ohiensis (Ohio spiderwort)

Ohio spiderwort (quart)

Ohio spiderwort or bluejacket sports bluish grass-like foliage with blue flowers from June to September. Spiderwort tolerates drought, growing in sun to part shade and up to 4' high. Flowers tend to open in the morning and shrink to a fluid jelly when touched in the heat of the day. A great addition to the border or naturalized garden.

Ohio spiderwort is the most common and widely distributed species in the U.S. It can be found from Maine in the northeast, west to Minnesota, and south to Texas and Florida. It is found along roadsides, along railroads, and in fields and thickets. Attracts native bees and bumblebees.
