Silene caroliniana 'Short and Sweet' (wild pinks)

1 Gallon

'Short and Sweet' is a compact, mounding to spreading selection of the native wildflower wild pinks or Carolina campion that produces bright pink flowers on stems rising above its basal foliage in May to June. The flowers somewhat resemble those of woodland phlox. Mature clumps will reach up to 8" tall and spread to fill an 18" area. Grow in average, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Requires excellent drainage. Ideal for rock gardens. Plants are best left undisturbed once established.

This species is native to eastern and central North America. It is found in acidic sandy soils of open, dry, gravelly woodlands and slopes. The showy pink flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds.
