Little bluestem, a clumping grass, displays a wide range of colors with its fine textured foliage. Emerges as a clear blue-green and matures into rusts, purples, and oranges in the fall. It grows to about 3' tall in full sun in dry to moist soils. Good for planting in masses, perennial borders, wild gardens, and meadows.

Little bluestem is a species of North American prairie grass native to most of the contiguous U.S. (except California, Nevada, and Oregon). It is most common in the Midwestern prairies. Larval host to several skipper species.
