Phlox stolonifera 'Sherwood Purple' (creeping phlox)

creeping phlox (quart)

The rich, deep purple color of 'Sherwood Purple' makes this cultivar of creeping phlox glow above the mat of green foliage. This spreading plant only grows to about 8" tall and blooms in May with the bulbs. Foliage remains attractive for much of the year. Shade or part shade conditions. It is slightly fragrant. Woodland gardens and shade borders.

Creeping phlox is native to the eastern U.S., occurring in woodlands and streambanks near the Appalachian Mountains from Pennsylvania south to northern Georgia. Attracts butterflies and other pollinators.
