Panicum amarum (bitter panicgrass)

bitter panicgrass (1 gallon)

Panicum amarum  is a clump forming warm season grass that thrives in sandy soils and along shorelines in in full sun to part shade conditions.  It is useful for dune stabilization and shoreline erosion control landward of the high marsh.  It is very salt tolerant, and can also withstand drought conditions and air pollution.  Growing 3-4 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide, it blooms from September to February.  Cut stems back to the ground in early spring to help keep an attractive shape.
