Cinnamon fern is a favorite in many gardens! One of the larger ferns, it is considered a living fossil because it has been identified in the geologic record as far back as 75 million years. It grows to 3' tall and wide, growing best in part to full shade, in medium to wet soil conditions. It is a great selection for areas along the water's edge or shaded ponds. It grows in clumps and produces fiddleheads, which turn into prominent brown fertile fronds.
Cinnamon fern is native to the Americas and eastern Asia, growing in swamps, bogs, and moist woodlands.
