All are welcome to celebrate nature, art, and community at this free event on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Explore the many opportunities, programs, and experiences offered at the Arboretum, while enjoying complimentary refreshments.

The following programs are schedule throughout the day:

The Dawn Chorus at 6 a.m. 
Spring Migration Bird Walk at 8 a.m.
First Saturday Walk at 10 a.m.
Pride Nature Walk at 11 a.m.

In addition:

  • Anna Harding and Kelly Sverduk, from the Botanical Art League of the Eastern Shore (BALES), will be demonstrating the art and science of botanical art. Kelly is a botanical art program instructor at the Arboretum.
  • Diane DuBois Mullaly, a fine artist, Maryland Master Naturalist, and art instructor at the Arboretum, will be demonstrating nature sketching. Visitors are encouraged to try their hand at nature sketching alongside Diane at the event. Supplies will be provided.
  • Learn about our First Friday Healing Walks from program instructor Jodie Schram, a certified Nature Therapy Guide and Divorce Recovery Coach.
  • Adkins' Bird Monitoring Team will be offering birding tips on the Wetlands Bridge.
  • Kids can participate in hands-on nature activities.
  • View the 2026 Juried Art Show featuring twenty regional artists.
  • Attendees will enjoy a 20% discount on Adkins logo-merch during the event. 

Membership support is vital to sustaining the Arboretum’s conservation, education, and community programming. New and renewing members who join at the event will receive a reusable Adkins-branded cup. Membership rates will increase on July 1, 2026, for the first time in over twenty years, making now an ideal time to join or renew.

Thanks to the generous support of The Caroline Foundation, any Caroline County resident who identifies as low-income can become an Arboretum member at no cost.

This event is free to attend, but advance registration is appreciated.
