Lonicera sempervirens 'Leo' (honeysuckle)

honeysuckle (1 gallon)

‘Leo’ is a cultivar of the native honeysuckle species that offers prolific intense red blooms with orange-ish yellow centers that continue to rebloom throughout the season. Plant this semi-evergreen vine in a sunny spot, near a structure that it can use for support. Deer prefer not to browse on it, and it tolerates black walnut trees.

Honeysuckle is a native favorite most common in eastern North America, primarily in the Southeast. Its nectar attracts hummingbirds and pollinators. Birds such as quail, purple finch, and the American robin eat the berries. The native honeysuckle also serves as the host plant for the spring azure and snowberry clearwing moths.
