Kalmia latifolia 'Bullseye' (mountain laurel)

Kalmia latifolia 'Bullseye' is a distinctive mountain laurel with bright red buds that never fully open into flowers. This broadleaf evergreen prefers cool, moist, rich, acidic, humusy, well-drained soils in part shade. This multi-stemmed shrub typically grows 5-15' tall, and in ideal conditions it can reach 30' in height. Noted for its quality year-round foliage, its leaves are reminiscent of rhododendrons, and is especially suited as an understory planting in woodland gardens.
