Itea virginica (sweetspire)

sweetspire (2 gallon, 12-18"")

Virginia sweetspire is a broad-spreading, deciduous shrub with beautiful fall color. It grows to 8' tall and 5' wide. In the late spring and early summer, long tassels of white flowers bloom from the base to the tip, extending the bloom time. Generally found along wooded stream banks and swamps, sweetspire tolerates medium to wet, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. It is a multi-stemmed, suckering and colonizing plant.

Virginia sweetspire is a small flowering shrub that is native to North America. It grows in low-lying woods and wetland margins. The flowers attract pollinators, and the shrub provides cover. Sweetspire can be used for erosion control.
