Grow Your Colors - October 26

Saturday, October 26
10–11:30 a.m.

In 2023 and 2024, Adkins Arboretum was awarded funding by the Chesapeake Bay Trust (CBT) to provide outreach and education to local HOAs in support of environmentally-friendly landscaping practices. This speaker series was developed as part of the Naturally Better Landscaping project in partnership with ShoreRivers and Queen Anne’s County officials and is free for HOA members thanks to CBT funding and open to the general public. All presentations will be held at the Arboretum unless otherwise noted.

Eastern Shore Permaculture Institute director Justinian Dispenza is on a crusade against the largest irrigated crop in the USA.  You might be surprised to know he’s talking about your lawn!  But don’t worry, bring a friend and learn about ways to change the monotone color of your yard by growing your own rainbow.

Join us for a lighthearted and educational workshop on ways to easily increase the ‘pop’ of your property while benefiting pollinators, property values, and the planet. We’ll discuss native plants and some easy-to-grow flowers to start your yard beautification journey. Then, we'll do a collaborative activity where you’ll use the skills you learn to begin planning (and planting) the yard you’ve always wished for. Growing Your Own Rainbow will surely be a treat for you and the birds and butterflies!

Advance registration is required for all programs and events. This helps with planning and lets us contact you if programs are canceled. Many of our instructors are from out of town, and programs with insufficient enrollment may be canceled several days in advance.

**Note: You will be asked upon checkout to create an account. This is optional and is not required to register.**
