Gardens Alive: Elevating Our Landscapes Through Ecology - September 15

Sunday, September 15
2– 3:30 p.m.

In 2023 and 2024, Adkins Arboretum was awarded funding by the Chesapeake Bay Trust (CBT) to provide outreach and education to local HOAs in support of environmentally-friendly landscaping practices. This speaker series was developed as part of the Naturally Better Landscaping project in partnership with ShoreRivers and Queen Anne’s County officials and is free for HOA members thanks to CBT funding and open to the general public. All presentations will be held at the Arboretum unless otherwise noted.

In the face of a rapidly changing world, modern horticulture is increasingly focused on creating gardens that support wildlife through native plants and sustainable landscape practices. At Stoneleigh: A Natural Garden in Villanova, PA, beauty and biodiversity are the pillars of transforming a former estate garden into a resilient garden that nurtures the natural world. Explore the diverse and creative ways native plants are used at Stoneleigh, how ecology plays into garden design and management, and how even incremental changes in the landscape can impact our native wildlife in big ways. Join us for a walking tour of the Arboretum’s bioretention beds after the program.

Advance registration is required for all programs and events. This helps with planning and lets us contact you if programs are canceled. Many of our instructors are from out of town, and programs with insufficient enrollment may be canceled several days in advance.

**Note: You will be asked upon checkout to create an account. This is optional and is not required to register.**
