Garden-Worthy Native Plants - November 17

Sunday, November 17
12:30–2 p.m.

In 2023 and 2024, Adkins Arboretum was awarded funding by the Chesapeake Bay Trust (CBT) to provide outreach and education to local HOAs in support of environmentally-friendly landscaping practices. This speaker series was developed as part of the Naturally Better Landscaping project in partnership with ShoreRivers and Queen Anne’s County officials and is free for HOA members thanks to CBT funding and open to the general public. All presentations will be held at the Arboretum unless otherwise noted.

Wouldn’t you like your garden to sing in all four seasons?  Join us for a talk highlighting native shrubs and perennials that will help you achieve year-round interest in your landscape.  We will also discuss native alternatives to commonly used invasive plants.

Jennifer Klug Vaccaro is the Community Restoration Coordinator for ShoreRivers.  She strives to find creative and beautiful ways to integrate solutions to flooding and runoff into the landscape that positively impact the people who use them and the ecosystems surrounding them.  Jennifer has a degree in Landscape Architecture from Temple University and is a Certified Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional. She also serves on the Maryland Invasive Plant Advisory Committee and operates Where Pigs Fly Farm in Centreville with her husband, two dogs, 15 goats, 400 chickens, one turkey, and one pig.

Advance registration is required for all programs and events. This helps with planning and lets us contact you if programs are canceled. Many of our instructors are from out of town, and programs with insufficient enrollment may be canceled several days in advance.
