Geocaching 101 - February 18

Saturday, February 18, 2023
1–2:30 p.m.
$15 per child; no charge for adult chaperones. The program is designed for children ages 8 & up. Children ages 5–7 may come with an adult.

Join naturalist Katey Nelson to learn to find treasure in the woods using GPS technology. Geocaching is a fun outdoor sport and a great way to explore the Arboretum. We'll also place a new cache of swag created during class.

Katey believes she has the best job in the world—she gets to play with kids and inspire explorers to wonder while exploring the great outdoors! She is the director of Wonder in the Wild, a local nonprofit focused on nature play and environmental education. Most of Wonder in the Wild's programs are based out of Camp Wright on Kent Island, with a few traveling programs that allow them to explore the beautiful Chesapeake Bay watershed.  Ms. Katey has 12+ years of experience leading environmental and outdoor education classes and previously worked at the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center and Annapolis Maritime Museum. She holds a Masters of Arts in teaching, as well as numerous environmental education and child care certificates.
