grass-leaved goldenrod (1 quart)

Grass-leaved goldenrod or flat-topped goldenrod is a low-maintenance perennial for full to partial sun and moist, average soils. Grows 1-4’ tall with branched stems and narrow grass-like leaves, topped by flat, open clusters of small, yellow flowers. This goldenrod's narrow leaves and flat arrangement of flowers are distinctive. Blooms July to October, attracting pollinators including migrating Monarch butterflies. Spreads by rhizomes to form colonies. Cut back at end of winter.

Grass-leaved goldenrod is native to northern and eastern U.S. It commonly occurs throughout Maryland in a variety of open habits. Host plant for various moth species. Attracts native bees and insects that prey upon pest insects.
