Dryopteris intermedia (evergreen wood fern)

The intermediate wood fern or evergreen wood fern is a great choice for the deeply shaded woodland garden. It tends to stay evergreen and grows slowly from a crown. An easy to grow fern that prefers moist, shady sites with lots of organic matter. Reaches heights of 2–3' tall.

The intermediate wood fern is native to eastern North America. It grows in a variety of moist settings, including forests, woodlands, ravines, swamp edges, and rocky slopes.
