Creating Native Plant Gardens - July 11

Thursday, July 11
1– 2:30 p.m.

In 2023 and 2024, Adkins Arboretum was awarded funding by the Chesapeake Bay Trust (CBT) to provide outreach and education to local HOAs in support of environmentally-friendly landscaping practices. This speaker series was developed as part of the Naturally Better Landscaping project in partnership with ShoreRivers and Queen Anne’s County officials and is free for HOA members thanks to CBT funding and open to the general public. All presentations will be held at the Arboretum unless otherwise noted.

Join garden coach and consultant Concetta Gibson to discuss choosing and using beneficial native plants that look attractive in your home and neighborhood. Topics will include what to consider when designing plant bed layouts, a few advantages of native species and nativars, and container and small space gardening. You are encouraged to bring the dimensions and conditions of your garden space for customized suggestions during the design practice activity. Participants also will receive a sneak peek of the Arboretum’s next native plant sale list

Advance registration is required for all programs and events. This helps with planning and lets us contact you if programs are canceled. Many of our instructors are from out of town, and programs with insufficient enrollment may be canceled several days in advance.

**Note: You will be asked upon checkout to create an account. This is optional and is not required to register.**
