Chrysogonum virginianum 'Pierre' (gold star)

'Pierre' is a cultivar of 'Green and Gold' that is a little more clump-forming (though still spreading), slightly flatter, longer blooming, and slightly more evergreen than the straight species. It is evergreen in mild winters. Grows best in shade to part sun and in moist, well-drained soil. It reaches a height of about 6" tall. Blooms in May and sporadically throughout the season.

'Green and Gold' is native to southeastern U.S. Attracts bees and butterflies. Songbirds eat the seeds.
