Lady fern is a very easy fern to grow. It grows to between 1' and 2' tall in part shade to full shade in moist soil. Light green in color with feathery, finely divided fronds. It sometimes has touches of red on the stems. Lady fern grows in circular clusters. Good for shaded borders and woodland gardens. Very hardy. The young fronds are edible after cooking.

Lady fern is native to temperate Asia, Europe, North Africa, Canada, and the U.S. It is often one of the more common ferns in damp, shady woodland environments.
