Learn the basics of working with this fun and versatile medium in nature and botanical drawings. Watercolor pencils go on like normal colored pencils, then magic happens when water is applied. This workshop, lead Kelly Sverduk, will include demonstrations and exercises in nature sketching and botanical art. No prerequisites are required.

Materials
- Sketching paper
- Tracing paper
- Sketching pencils (B and 4B)
- Kneaded eraser
- Small watercolor brushes
- Container for water
- Rag for cleaning brushes
- Manual pencil sharpener (not requried)
- 12-color set of watercolor pencils (Derwent Watercolor Pencils (not Inktense) or Faber Castell Albrecht Durer Watercolor Pencils would work well. Both sets are available at Dick Blick online.) Students may bring a larger set of pencils if desired, but the instructor will have a large selection of colors to share during class.
- Instructor will provide watercolor paper.
Meet Your Instructor
Botanical artist Kelly Sverduk specializes in watercolor and is passionate about making and teaching art. With a background in both art and natural sciences, she finds the field of botanical illustration to perfectly mesh her interests. Kelly holds a B.A. in studio art from Messiah College and a certificate in botanical art from the Brookside Gardens School of Botanical Art and Illustration. She lives with her family in Greenwood, DE
