Join Underground Railroad historian Anthony Cohen for a guided tour that explores the lives of freedom seekers through the Arboretum's restored landscape. A historian and president of the Menare Foundation, Cohen previously retraced 1,200 miles of this history by foot, rail, and boat. He narrates and guides viewers in Rooted Wisdom, Nature's Role in the Underground Railroad, a documentary film that will premiere in March 2022. The film was produced by Adkins Arboretum and Schoolhouse Farmhouse Studio in collaboration with Cohen.
On the tour, he will discuss methods freedom seekers used for concealment, nourishment, and evasion while escaping enslavement.
