Quercus lyrata (overcup oak)

overcup oak (3 gallon)

It is said that this is the tree that helped to create Adkins Arboretum! This medium sized oak will grow about 40 to 60 feet tall and wide, providing good fall color and magnificent wildlife benefits. The name overcup refers to the acorn, in which the cap encloses almost all of the nut. This tree grows best in floodplain forests and therefore tolerates wet, poorly drained soils.
