Phlox paniculata 'Jeana' (garden phlox)

garden phlox (1 gallon)

'Jeana' is the garden phlox highly recommended by Mt. Cuba for it attractiveness to pollinators and its horticultural appeal. It has fragrant pink tubular flowers that bloom from mid-summer into the fall and is highly mildew resistant. This showy clump-former grows 3–5' tall by 2–3' wide. Garden phlox thrives in organic, moist to average soil in full sun to light shade. Needs at least six hours of sun a day. Tolerant of drought once established. Benefits from occasional fertilization. Deadhead to prolong blooming season.

Garden phlox is native to parts of the eastern and central U.S. It occurs elsewhere as an adventive species. In its natural range, it grows along streambanks and in moist wooded areas. All varieties of phlox attract butterflies, honey bees, bumblebees, hummingbirds, and other pollinators.
