Join Clare Maffei, a bee biologist for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, for a fascinating exploration of basic bee biology, pollination, habitat, and the amazing diversity of native bees.
Following the program's indoor portion, participants will be able to improve their identification skills by catching, observing, and releasing bees outside. They’ll also learn about community science apps and projects that they can contribute to.
Clare shares the USGS/FWS Native Bee Lab with Sam Droege in Laurel, MD. Her primary role is to identify native bees using a microscope, but she is also passionate about the stunning beauty of bees and their habitats and loves to share this perspective with all levels of community naturalists.
