'Henry's Garnet' is a cultivar of Virginia sweetspire that has larger flowers and better Fall color than the straight species Itea virginica. This deciduous shrub grows about 3–4 feet tall and does best in full sun to part shade, medium to wet soil. Blooms in late Spring to early Summer. Leaves turn shades of red in Fall.

Virginia sweetspire is a small flowering shrub that is native to North America. It grows in low-lying woods and wetland margins. The flowers attract pollinators, and the shrub provides cover. Sweetspire can be used for erosion control.
