A specimen native deciduous holly with pinkish-orange berries that persist into winter, dense, upright habit, best planted in groupings, plant protected from afternoon sun, needs well drained, moist soil, grows in height and spread of 8’. Insignificant white flowers spring, pollinated by bees.  Best paired with 'Southern Gentleman' or 'Apollo'.

Common winterberry holly is native to eastern North America. It occurs particularly in wetland habitats, but also on dry sand dunes and grasslands. Provides cover and nesting sites. Fruits attract birds; nectar attracts insects. Host plant for various moth species and butterflies including Henry's Elfin butterfly.
