Dana Limpert, an ecologist with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, will share highlights of Finding the Mother Tree, the seminal work of forest ecologist Suzanne Simard.  Simard's fascinating research reveals that trees are part of a complex, inderdependent circle of life and that forests are social cooperative beings connected through underground mycorrhizal networks through which they share and exchange resources and support.

Dana will also share iformation about The Mother Tree Project, which investigates forest renewal practices that protect biodiversity, carbon storage, and forest regeneration as the climate changes. On a woodland walk that follows the presentation, participants may choose to see the forest for hte trees and contemplate their wisdom.
