From the Ground Up: A Native Meadow Field Trip - July 6

Saturday, July 6
10–11 a.m.

In 2023 and 2024, Adkins Arboretum was awarded funding by the Chesapeake Bay Trust (CBT) to provide outreach and education to local HOAs in support of environmentally-friendly landscaping practices. This speaker series was developed as part of the Naturally Better Landscaping project in partnership with ShoreRivers and Queen Anne’s County officials and is free for HOA members thanks to CBT funding and open to the general public. All presentations will be held at the Arboretum unless otherwise noted.

Join Maryland Master Naturalist Sally Campbell in Hillsboro, where Sally will discuss the multistep process of transforming a barren expanse of turfgrass into a thriving native meadow that supports wildlife and is enjoyed by the whole community. As part of her presentation, Sally will take you on a walk along the meadow paths.

Note: Park at the Hillsboro Town Hall,  22043 Church St. The program will begin at the Town Hall, and then we will walk 1/4 block west to Stafford Memorial Park and the meadow. There are an additional four spaces at the park, or you can park on the street. If it is raining, we will meet inside the town hall, but we will bring rain gear to walk the park and meadow. Call Sally Campbell at 410-829-3559 with questions.

Advance registration is required for all programs and events. This helps with planning and lets us contact you if programs are canceled. Many of our instructors are from out of town, and programs with insufficient enrollment may be canceled several days in advance.

**Note: You will be asked upon checkout to create an account. This is optional and is not required to register.**
