'Moonbeam' is a popular cultivar of coreopsis because of its dainty, pale yellow flowers, which bloom in abundance all summer long. Its feathery, fern-like foliage gives it an appealing, airy appearance even when it is not blooming. With flowers that are paler than the species, it blends well with other hues in a mixed perennial bed. Well-suited for growing at the front of a sunny border or as part of a container display. This sterile cultivar can spread by rhizomes but will not self-seed as the species does freely. For best results, grow it in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil. Grows to 2' tall. Deer tolerant. Do not overwater or fertilize.
Threadleaf coreopsis is native to east-central U.S., primarily from Maryland south to Georgia. It is commonly found in dry, thin woods and open pinelands, preferring sites with full sun exposure. Attracts birds and butterflies. Deer resistant.
