Chrysogonum virginianum 'Allen Bush' (green and gold)
1 Quart
Green and gold is a low-growing, mat-forming perennial with starry golden daisy-like flowers. A burst of blooms comes in late spring with sporadic flowering afterward. Thrives in moist, well-drained soil in part sun or part shade. The semi-evergreen foliage and long bloom period makes this a great native ground-cover. This cultivar is a more compact and more floriferous version of the straight species. Grows to 3–4" tall (up to 6" in bloom) with a 12" spread.
Green and gold is native to the eastern United States. It is found in moist to dry woodlands and open rocky woodlands, but less commonly in densely shaded glades than in edges and clearings with bright filtered light. The flowers attract pollinators, but the plants don't appeal to deer and other herbivores.
