Cardamine diphylla (broadleaf toothwort)

broadleaf toothwort (quart)

Two-leaved toothwort, or crinkleroot, is a woodland wildflower with paired leaves and clusters of four-petaled white or pink flowers. It grows up to about 16" tall. Bloom time March–June. Plant it in part shade or shade in humus-rich, acid soil. Note: Does not tolerate the deep shade cast by evergreen trees. Two-leaved toothwort is found in most of North America. It is found in moist woodlands, usually in edge habitats. Attracts butterflies and provides pollen for pollen specialist bees. Host plant for the West Virginia white butterfly.
