Venom? No, we're not talking about Spider-Man's nemesis. Rather, this program discusses the fascinating evolutionary strategy of animal venom. Quite often, we automatically refer to snakes as the primary animal group having venom. However, there are many misconceptions about snake venom as well as venom in general. Many people define venom as a substance that causes fatality in humans, and many use “venomous” synonymously with the word “poisonous.”  But are these perspectives accurate? This program is taught by biological scientist Timothy Christensen.  A Zoom link will be emailed prior to the class.

Timothy Christensen has over 40 years of experience managing and coordinating programs involving entomology, integrated pest managment (IPM), natural resources management, environmental compliance, hazardous materials management, herpetology, and environmental/occupational health and safety operations for the Department of Defense.

Advance registration is required for a Zoom invite.
