Eupatorium rugosum (Ageratina altissima) 'Chocolate' (chocolate boneset)

chocolate boneset, white snakeroot (quart)

Eupatorium rugosum 'Chocolate' synAgertina altissima 'Chocolate' has much better shade tolerance than other Eupatoriums. Introduced by the Mt. Cuba Center, the cultivar 'Chocolate' offers small white flowers with shining purple stems. The leaves are tinted with the color of chocolate. It grows 3 to 5 feet tall and will spread about 2 to 3 feet. It does well in full sun to part shade in medium to wet soil moisture conditions. It is a great selection for naturalized areas or rain gardens, and attracts butterflies, while tolerating deer!
