Blur the lines between foraging and gardening with Shane Brill, a passionate ecological advocate who explores the edible potential of the Eastern Shore region. Learn how to use wild foods to reestablish our role as participants in the natural world and restore our sense of belonging in a healthy and biodiverse community. A brief presentation will be followed by a guided foraging walk, including a tour of edible plants on sale at the Arboretum. Shane Brill works with the Eastern Shore Food Lab at Washington College and advises permaculture internships and projects relating to environmental literature and film, ethnobotany, food justice, fermentation, and horticulture.
