Eating for heart health can keep your brain healthy as well. Join Julianna Pax to learn about foods for the heart that taste great and may also reduce the odds of developing dementia, along with tips for making simple foods that will put you on the path to better living.
Objectives
- Learn about the fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, nuts, and oils that help improve the health of our blood vessels.
- Learn more about the omega-3 fatty acids that are linked to better blood vessel health.
- Discuss the role fats, sugar, and salt may play in heart and brain health.
- Get the latest news in nutrition research on cancer and the best diets.
Julianna Pax retired from Montgomery County Schools in 1999, where she developed and taugh the nutrition science curriculum in addition to her chemistry classes. She has a BS in chemistry from the University of Dayton, an MS from University of Michigan, and a PhD in nutrition science from the University of Maryland. She is also the author of several cookbooks, the fifth of which is Cooking for One (or More). She also leads the Arboretum's Soup 'n Walk program and teaches line dance classes at the YMCA in Cambridge, MD.
