Saturday, October 27, 1-3 p.m.

This program is part of the Maryland STEM Festival

Take part in the Maryland STEM Festival with a family-friendly program on green roofs! Discover how green roofs—roofs that are partially or completely covered with plants—improve water quality, provide habitat for wildlife, and conserve energy.

Participants will conduct an infiltration experiment and make a green-roofed fairy or gnome home to keep. The program will include a nature walk with a stop at the Arboretum's mailbox, which features a handmade green roof. Recommended for elementary ages and older.
