Commemorate the arrival of Brood X cicadas in this two-session class led by Anna Harding. Using found specimens, we will draw, to scale, a cicada and bring it to life using colored pencils on Mylar. Previous experience with drawing and colored pencils is recommended but not required. Patience is a prerequisite, however. The next cicada drawing class will be held in 2038.
Anna Harding has been creating art since she was a child. She has moved through various mediums, including 20 years as a ceramic artist and the past 10 years as a botanical artist working in graphite and colored pencil. She currently teaches botanical art classes at the Arboretum and is preparing for a show in 2022 featuring threatened, endangered, or extinct species in the Chesapeake region. She maintains a studio at her kitchen table.
Registration is limited to 8 students so ensure physical distancing and so that each artist receives quality individual coaching.
**Note: You will be asked upon checkout to create an account. This is optional and is not required to process payment or to register.**
